Joining the Board of Directors
or Board Committee
NAMI Finger Lakes is recruiting new board members who want to make a meaningful impact. As the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, we’ve supported our community for over 40 years through education, support, and advocacy for individuals with mental health conditions and their families.
Quick FAQs
What is the time commitment?
Monthly meetings and support for two fundraisers, approximately 6-8 hours per month.
Whom are we looking for?
Compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic individuals.
Do I need to wear a suit?
Nope! Authenticity encouraged 😊
Are there specific qualifications?
Not at all, we value diverse life and work experiences.
What are the responsibilities of a Board Member?
You can read more about what we expect from Board Members here: Board of Directors Responsibilities
What if I’m not sure I’m ready for that level of commitment?
That’s OK! Maybe joining one of our Board Committees is a better fit for you! Any member of the community can join a Board Committee without the commitment of serving a 3 year term on the Board of Directors. And if a Board Committee isn’t right for you, we have other ways you can be involved as a volunteer or as a donor.
What are the different Board Committees?
We currently have 4 active Board Committees. Click on the links below to learn more about each Committee.
