Mental Health Resources

NAMI Finger Lakes provides information about local resources for individuals living with mental health conditions and their families. In case of an emergency that requires police assistance, call 911 and ask for Emergency Responders with mental health experience. Mental Health Services - Tompkins County

  • Lakeview Health Services - Affordable housing and support to persons with mental illness as well as health care coordination services to individuals with chronic mental health challenges. 

  • Unity House - Housing options, rehabilitation programs and employment services for people with mental illness.

Binghamton, NY 

  • Greater Binghamton Health Center - Long-term care facility that provides an integrated network of inpatient and outpatient services for adults and children.

  • OnTrackNY (Southern Tier Office) - Mental health treatment program that empowers young people to pursue their goals for school, work, and relationship.

Buffalo, NY  

  • OLV Human Services – Residential treatment facility and intensive treatment program for teens with mental illness.  

  • Pathways, Inc. – Provides children, adults, and families with specialized programs and services in intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, family support, traumatic brain injury, home care services, care coordination, clinical services, therapeutic foster care, and childcare.

Elmira, NY 

  • Elmira Psychiatric Center – Provides a wide array of comprehensive psychiatric services including Inpatient care and community based psychiatric services. Includes Mid Lakes Act Team (Assertive Community Treatment) - mobile intensive treatment and support to individuals who are diagnosed with severe mental illness and have been unsuccessful in traditional forms of treatment.

Rochester, NY 

  • Rochester Psychiatric Center  – Inpatient, residential and community supports to adults, residential and community support programs to adolescents and inpatient programs to forensic patients.

  • Strong Memorial Hospital – Inpatient and outpatient services.

Syracuse, NY 

  • Hutchings Psychiatric Center - Adult and children inpatient and outpatient services. Includes OnTrackNY - Mental health treatment program that empowers young people to pursue their goals for school, work, and relationship.

  • Upstate Psychiatry - Short-term inpatient services and outpatient services for adults and children.

Mental Health Services - State

  • New York State Office of Mental Health - New York State has a large, multi-faceted mental health system that serves more than 700,000 individuals each year. The Office of Mental Health (OMH) operates psychiatric centers across the State. OMH also regulates, certifies and oversees more than 4,500 programs, operated by local governments and nonprofit agencies.

Farm-Based Treatment Programs 

Farm-based Care programs combine health care & structured work to promote mental and physical health through normal farming activity. Below is a sampling of programs available.

  • Gould Farm  – Farm community dedicated to helping adults with mental health and related challenges move toward recovery and independence through community living, meaningful work, and clinical care, Located in Massachusetts.

  • Cooper-Riis – Farm community for people with mental health challenges and High Functioning Autism and/or those formerly diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Located in western North Carolina.

  • Hopewell Inn – Farm-based residential treatment program for adults with severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and major depression. Located in Mesopotamia, Ohio
